Celebrity Style Magazine: First Look! Keira Knightley As Coco Chanel In New Short Film By Karl Lagerfeld

Last month we brought you the news that Karl Lagerfeld and Keira Knightley have joined forces once again for a new Chanel short, in which Keira plays Coco to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Chanel fashion boutique. We now have the first look of Keira looking lovely as Coco in a cream Chanel pussy bow blouse under a mock up threshold of a Chanel boutique set in 1913.

The behind the scenes shot from the short film Once Upon A Time also features Karl's silver ponytail, as he has his director's cap on overseeing the action. WWD went behind the scenes on the short and reveal that Karl encourages improvisation, as he says 'do it your way, huh?' to Keira and Tallulah Harlech as they rehearse their lines.

As a director, fashion's fairy godfather is shown to be all seeing as WWD describe him roaming the vast set putting final touches on costumes, choosing jewellery from a tray held by an assistant. Ms Knightley says of Karl the director, 'Karl Lagerfeld stage manages the actor in a truly direct way.' Would you expect anything less?

The rest of the cast includes Stella Tennant, aspiring actress Tallulah Harlech, and hunky Brad Kroenig, but Keira is the stand out actress of the bunch according to Karl as he said 'Keira can deliver her lines easier than the others.' Despite the fact that she was given her lines just moments before filming.

Once Upon a Time will be screened the night before Chanel's cruise collection in Singapore on May 7. As this is a Karl Lagerfeld production we expect it to be witty, oh so beautiful and slightly embellished, for as WWD report Lagerfeld declares the short as 'invented reality.'
