Tropical colours and a punchy print… Yep, we reckon the Duchess of Cambridge couldn’t have arrived in the exotic Soloman Islands in a better dress. It helps too that it’s designed by one of the best British design talents of the moment, Jonathan Saunders.
It’s the first time the Duchess has chosen to wear anything by the Scottish-born designer. Surprising, perhaps, given that his simple but sexy dresses have already been adopted by those in a similar official position as Kate, such as Samantha Cameron and Michelle Obama. So though no doubt her tour wardrobe would have been decided long before the scandal broke over those topless pictures of her, the Saunders power dress would help her feel confident stepping out into today’s crowd.
And what a crowd it was. The Royal couple were driven through the streets of Honiara on a war canoe built on the back of a pick up truck, wearing traditional floral greeting around their necks.
Kate paired her Jonathan Saunders Evelyn cotton dress – which is still on sale for £840 at Matches boutique – with a Jane Taylor designed hat and those all-too-familiar LK Bennett heels. No blisters for her, then!
Next up, the Royal couple will attend a state dinner under the stars in the Solomon Islands. Kate is apparently wearing a dress she only tried on a couple of hours ago - so we're thinking something local and tropical!
We'll be updating you live as it happens. But in the meantime, check out Grazia's Kate Middleton Look Book.
