Milliner Philip Treacy has collaborated with fine jewellery maker Asprey to banish the sad-looking paper hats, disappointing toys and bad jokes usually associated with Christmas crackers by creating a couture version of the Christmas staple - but it will set you back £1,500 for just one.

Just 80 of the crackers have been produced and each includes an "elaborate" pop-up Treacy-designed hat, ribbon-shaped confetti, a humorous joke - all of which have reportedly been written by a 'world famous' comedian - as well as a coveted collector's sterling silver thimble engraved with his signature. One of the eight exclusive crackers will also include a winning ticket for a bespoke Philip Treacy hat.
"I love Christmas and I am obsessed with Christmas decorations - I collect vintage ones," Treacy told WWD .
Whilst the couture crackers may be out of the reach for the majority of us, we're sure burlesque star Dita Von Teese, one of Treacy's most glamorous clients, will be pulling them over her turkey come December 25.
