Never mind the play, when Anna Friel hits the West End it's the after-show fashion show we're interested in.
The 36 year-old, Rochdale-born actress is currently starring in Uncle Vanya at the Vaudeville Theatre but being a thespian heavyweight is not distracting her from paying attention to her wardrobe. Just as in 2009 when she played Audrey Hepburn in the London stage version of Breakfast at Tiffany's , each night she is emerging from the stage door, suitably thin and wan from her dramatic exertions, in yet another nonchalantly stylish outfit.
Sometimes not so nonchalant. A few days ago a man's necktie worn loose over a shirt, waistcoat and topped off with a trilby verged on the side of studied. But you can't blame a girl for trying when the paps are out there salivating on the pavement.
Besides, this statement shirt with black leggings, long boots and minimalist envelope clutch is understated and lovely. Make a mental note of it before you start shopping for pre-Christmas jamborees.
