When we have a wardrobe clear out the resulting bin bags are usually filled with tatty old T-shirts, once-white-but-now-grey vest tops, and a few odd socks. But when Margherita Missoni does the same thing, it's an entirely different story.

Ever the philanthropist, the granddaughter of Missoni founders Ottavio and Rosita Missoni has had an almighty wardrobe de-cluttering session in aid of charity - but you'll find no scruffy seconds here, just vintage Missoni pieces that have been lovingly worn and collected by Margherita over the years.
Over 70 pieces fresh from her personal collection are available for purchase on Yoox.com , ranging from hair accessories to long gowns and iconic knitwear pieces from the family brand - but you'll have to be quick as they're being snapped up fast. The entire proceeds of the sale will go to OrphanAid Africa, a charity the 29-year-old has supported for many years and for which she is Italian president.
Each item has a memory - from the dress she wore to a gala for Singapore Fashion Week with her now husband, to a lurex patchwork dress which was worn by Kate Moss in an advertising campaign shot by Mert & Marcus.

"Life is a balance between giving and receiving, the objects we possess do not really belong to us, we are just holding on to them for now," explains Margherita. "I've been working with OrphanAid Africa for almost 10 years, and I am constantly looking for new ways to raise funds to support this wonderful organization. So when these two ideas came together in my little head, I could not help but wonder why I hadn't of this before! Well, better late than never!"
In other news, Margherita has denied rumours that Missoni are set to launch a lower-priced line , as was reported by the Wall Street Journal last week. "Missoni is NOT launching a second line," she tweeted on Friday. "We already have a second line and it's called M Missoni."
