At Grazia we are huuuuge fans of Michelle Obama's first lady style, we love everything from the Michael Kors dress she wore on election night to her extensive collection of Jason Wu gowns. So obviously we thought she would be the clear winner in the fashion stakes on election night, but Sasha and Malia Obama looked just as perfect as MObama.
When we were 11 and 14 we experimented with dodgy dungarees, coloured mascara and lipgloss, but the Obama gals looked elegant AND fun in their colourful skirts. Sasha wore a green A-Line skirt by New York designer, Chris Benz, and Malia wore a blue A-Line skirt with a hot pink skinny belt.
The pair are wardrobe recyclers a la K-Midz and clearly love sharing (or raiding) each others' wardrobes. As Sasha's green Chris Benz skirt was also worn by Malia back in 2011 to a White House State dinner to meet the President of China.
The sisters are growing into style icons, perhaps following in the footsteps of GW's daughter Lauren Bush who is now a fashion model and designer. She has also married into NY fashion royalty when she wed David Lauren, the son of Ralph Lauren.
We also love the simple shift dresses the girls wore to the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina back in September - the dresses were in a matchy matchy style, but Malia went for electric blue and Sasha went for a black and white print with a yellow belt.
So what are the style rules for being a mini Obama? Malia & Sash are ALL about colour-blocking and they are also big fans of a colour-popping skinny patent belts and pretty ballerina flats.
The tween Obamas also dish out style advise to the president, as Us Weekly reported they always tease him about wearing a Blackberry in a holster connection to his belt.
