Anderson Cooper: Temporary Blinded, "Much Better Now"

After spending an entire afternoon out on the ocean waves, Anderson Cooper suffered a scary bought of blindness.

The 45-year-old talk show host posted a photo on his Instagram on Tuesday (December 4) donning a piece of white gauze over his sunburnt right eye. He added the caption, "Temporarily blinded last week while on assignment. UV light bouncing off water. Much better now. Details today on #andersonlive."

During his talk show, "Anderson Cooper Live," he explained how the incident occurred, saying, "I wake up in the middle of the night and it feels like my eyes are on fire. It turns out I have sunburned my eyeballs and I go blind. I went blind for 36 hours. I took this picture of me after I went to the hospital."

Cooper was in Portugal filming a segment for "60 Minutes."

While showing his audience the picture, he joked, "That's my new Match.com profile picture, by the way."
