Lady Gaga buys 55 Michael Jackson costumes at auction

London's spring/summer 2013 Fashion Week saw pop sensation Lady Gaga open Philip Treacy's Michael Jackson-themed comeback show - and it appears that her catwalk moment has given her a taste for Jackson-esque garments.

Outbidding Michael Jackson memorabilia collectors at a sales event administered by Julien's Auctions on December 2, the 26-year-old singer purchased 55 pieces from the wardrobe of the late King of Pop.

Though the specifics have not yet been revealed, auctioneer Darren Julien - who donned a specially-designed sequinned glove for the event - noted that the jacket Jackson wore during his 'Bad' tour fetched $240,000 (£150,000).

Two of Michael's crystal-encrusted gloves were sold for more than $100,000 (£62,000) each. Other items from the former 'Beat It' singer's tour wardrobe saw bidders fork out fees in a similar price bracket.

The singer - whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - posted the following message on Twitter: "The 55 pieces I collected today will be archived & expertly cared for in the spirit & love of Michael Jackson, his bravery, & fans worldwide."

No more Jackson-inspired collaborations for Philip Treacy and Lady Gaga anytime soon, then.
