Marios Schwab Dishes On His Spring 2013 Collection & The A-Lister He's Most Excited To Dress: EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

London-based designer Marios Schwab has become famous for experiementing with bold silhouettes and mixing different fabrics in single garments, but it was his Spring Summer 2013 collection that really pushed the boat out. Taking inspiration from the bee, whose honey is a vital part of Marios' Greek heritage, his army of Amazon princesses wore dresses covered in honeycomb motifs, fringing, lacing, slashed suedes and leather harnesses as well as Swarovski crystals. Today, our pals at Swarovski have dropped off an exclusive film featuring the designer talking through the collection, giving us the perfect opportunity to grill Mr Schwab on everything from his A-list fans to his love for cooking...

Grazia Daily: Do you have a muse?

Marios Schwab: Katy England is my muse, we have known each other for some time now and started working together a few seasons ago.  She is an inspiration, truly authentic.

Grazia Daily: Of all the women who've worn your dresses, which lady were you most excited about?

Marios Schwab: Marion Cotillard wore AW12 pieces for two interviews during Cannes Film Festival this year but also Ariane Labed who won the Best Actress Award at Venice Film Festival. Both are such talented and authentic women.

Grazia Daily: Are there any other ladies you’d like to work with?

Marios Schwab: Susie Bick and Asia Argento are very inspiring, both of which were featured on my mood boards.

Grazia Daily: If you could give women one piece of fashion advice, what would it be?

Marios Schwab: Read fashion, not just dress the look, I like women who shape their own imagination around what fashion is, especially when there is so little individuality nowadays.

Grazia Daily: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in fashion?

Marios Schwab: Beauty can be seen in so many ways and it can be distracting, painfully boring and superficial yet the actual moments of creating can be so deep and meaningful.

Grazia Daily: What's the biggest high you get from your job?

Marios Schwab: Looking at the development of collections from day one to the show, the adrenaline, dramas and achievement you feel.

Grazia Daily: What are you most proud of in your career?

Marios Schwab: Just the thought of having grown my label from nothing with people I really like and respect and without having to change my principles makes me very proud.

Grazia Daily: Which young or up-and-coming designers are you excited about?

Marios Schwab: Simone Rocha.

Grazia Daily: Is there any current fashion trend happening that you don’t like?

Marios Schwab: I generally find 'trends' extremely unimaginative and I particularly don't like fake suspender stockings and photographic prints.

Grazia Daily: What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Marios Schwab: I love cooking and the ritual of laying the table.  When I travel I like to try unusual and memorable dishes. In most of my spare time I go to the cinema.

Grazia Daily: It's been a great year to be British – what do you love most about British style?

Marios Schwab: I love British tailoring and the heritage and story behind the classic pieces the British Isles are best known for.

Grazia Daily: What would you like to do next?

Marios Schwab: Continue to travel with the collection to new and existing territories to put on catwalk shows. What better way for people to become excited about the brand than to see it in motion in front of them on a catwalk? Marios Schwab pieces are so well requested for VIP dressing that we are planning to expand our made to measure and private client dressing over the coming seasons as well as expand our evening wear offer.
