Smurfettes debut fashion line to show at New York Fashion Week

Miss Piggy's got company on the fashion scene. While the karate-chopping diva may boast a series of designer clad TV appearances and fashion cameos, Smurfette is set to have her very own real-life fashion show.

'Le Look Smurfette' will showcase at New York's Fashion Week on February 13. The brainchild of Sony Pictures Animation and Junk Food Art House, the two parties are hoping the blue-infused fashion will create hype ahead of the July 2013's film The Smurfs 2.

And while one might wonder what the models will tote as the autumn/winter '13 Smurfette look - seeing as the blue leading lady's signature uniform is a flimsy white dress, white heels and white elf-like cap - Sony have sourced design help from Highsnobette's Lois Sakany and Samia Grand-Pierre, WWD reports.

The two editors-come-designers have harked back to the fictional character's Belgian creator Peyo, whose first Smurf was drawn in 1958, for their creative inspiration. A long-sleeve crewneck top imprinted with 'Parlez-Vous Anglais' will appear, while a sweatshirt covered with vials of 'blue essence' channels a more modern interpretation of Smurfism in all its, um, blueness.

Katy Perry, the voice of Smurfette in the new film, will sadly not be attending the show in the Conair Style360 space. And we doubt Smurfette's fashionista rival, Miss Piggy, will either.
