Alber Elbaz's starring Skype role in new Lanvin video

We never thought we'd hear the horrific Skype default ringtone providing the soundtrack to a Lanvin campaign, but that's exactly what happens in the brand's new viral video.

In it, the French fashion house's loveable creative director Alber Elbaz 'dials in' to the filming of the spring/summer 2013 campaign, which sees top models Karlie Kloss and Saskia de Brauw mingle on a tropical, tree-filled New York terrace as they sport the new collection.

According to WWD , the arrival of Hurricane Sandy meant Elbaz couldn't leave Paris to be present at the shoot (from which print runs shot by Steven Miesel will appear in all the glossies) and so gets in touch from his atelier.

"I mean from where I am I don't see very well but I see that the lighting is very, very nice" he says over the Atlantic connection, adding: "I cannot tell about the make-up, it's not lipstick right? Nothing. It's divine."

Admiring the art direction of Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme, Elbaz indulges in more comedy feedback, by cooing: "Vla vla vla!". He shouts into the webcam: "I feel I am in a dream; I feel I am in a cloud!"

Lanvin is one luxury fashion house with a sense of humour - last year saw two male and female models take part dance to Pitbull's I Know You Want Me, with Elbaz making a sneaky cameo at the end.
