Nick Hart's Little Black Book

Ronnie Scott's, London W1

One of the best places in London for jazz. I once saw Nina Simone perform here. It's a real institution that's small, intimate and comfortable. ronniescotts.co.uk

The Parker, Palm Springs

The Parker hotel reinvented Palm Springs for the modern traveller. It still maintains a stylish, quirky, old-school Hollywood vibe. theparkerpalmsprings.com

Naya Buyukada Island, Turkey

A laid-back resort with a great hippie vibe. No cars are allowed on this small and amazing island - just horse-drawn carriages. nayaistanbul.com

La Gritta en Cadaqués, Spain

A small pizzeria located in one of Salvador Dalí's favourite places. It is cheap and fun, with a fantastic view of the wonderful town. pizzerialagritta.com

Lutyens & Rubinstein, London W11

This is a wonderful independent bookshop with a quirky selection of books on art, fashion and photography. The staff are knowledgeable, very personable, and it really feels like a neighbourhood store that's clearly owned by people who love books. lutyensrubinstein.co.uk

Musée Picasso, Antibes

Little more needs to be said than that this is a fantastic collection of the works of a genius. 00 33 4 9290 5420.

Basement Restaurant, Padstow
Padstow is one of my favourite places to escape from London's bustle. Serving local produce, this delightful restaurant doesn't complicate anything. thebasement.co.uk
