Ermanno Scervino Exclusive Interview 315 px

Grazia Daily: What do you love most about Milan Fashion Week?

Ermanno Scervino: The city transforms itself and becomes more modern. I love going for walks among the people and taking part in all the events.

Grazia Daily: How does Milan and London style differ?

Ermanno Scervino: London has always been an extremely creative and innovative city, with a multitude of young people working in fashion. I spend long periods in London, I love its international feeling. Milan is one of the beating hearts of ‘Made in Italy’, an essential showcase for Italian excellence, and this is reflected in its style.

Grazia Daily: What was your highlight from the AW13 show?

Ermanno Scervino: I loved the entire show, I found the experience creative and innovative. The view of Florence in the sets was just amazing.

Grazia Daily: If you could give women one piece of fashion advice, what would it be?

Ermanno Scervino: My advice to women is to never become victims of their clothes; style is all to do with a woman’s confidence

Grazia Daily: Of all the women who've worn your designs, which lady were you most excited about?

Ermanno Scervino: Cher when she wore my garments during the shooting of Franco Zeffirelli's film 'Tea with Mussolini'.

Grazia Daily: Are there any other ladies you’d like to work with?

Ermanno Scervino: Angelina Jolie. She can go from the red carpet to her social projects and charity work with ease and the utmost of elegance.

Grazia Daily: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in fashion?

Ermanno Scervino: The beauty of clothes not only creates the desired silhouette, but indicates something more than just the wearer’s external appearances. Often the beauty of a dress lets the wearer’s personality shine through, and gives a sense of something deeper and spiritual.

Grazia Daily: What young or up-and-coming designers are you excited about?

Ermanno Scervino: I have recently been admiring Christopher Kane’s work.

Grazia Daily: Is there any current fashion trend happening that you don’t like?

Ermanno Scervino: I don't like excess…I prefer something a little understated.

Grazia Daily: What do you love most about British style?

Ermanno Scervino: Its eccentricity combined with tradition.
