Introducing the 60,280 T-shirt

When you work in fashion, it's easy to get desensitised to the ludicrous cost of everything. Over the past decade, designer handbags have annihilated inflation, with your average day bag hanging out around the £1,000 mark, and happily creeping up into the £5,000+ region should any sort of exotic skin or fur be involved.

Nonetheless, occasionally something comes along which almost makes us fall off our seat - The Row's £26,000 backpack, Saint Laurent's £600 fedora, Balmain's £1,000 jeans to name but a few cardiac arrest-inducing price shockers - though none even come close to today's discovery.

New York blog The Awl has unearthed what is quite possibly the world's most expensive T-shirt. Ever.

This crocodile and chiffon T-shirt from Hermès menswear will set you back a whopping $91,500 (£60,280), or roughly the price of a two up, two down starter home in the North of England.

A T-shirt made almost entirely from crocodile is certainly a flamboyant - not to mention clammy - style statement for your average male, but should you be, for example, Kanye West, then this has your name written all over it - particularly as you would have to be as cheesed up as Kanye to even be able to consider trying this on...
