Most of the talk around Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia time hinges on which designers will (or won't) be showing, but almost just as interesting this year is who will be wearing their clothes. From redhead equestrienne Grace Simmons to Bunbury slashie Courtney Eaton, here are five fresh local faces we'll be looking out for when things kick off this month.
Until a month ago, April Tiplady had never walked a runway, but she’s coming to MBFWA fresh from closing Junya Watanabe’s show at Paris Fashion Week. The 16-year-old has also just scored her first cover, for the March edition of L’Officiel Singapore, and her bone structure is out of this world.

Lou Doillon lookalike Gabby Dover hails from the startlingly archaic town of Berry, NSW, and prior to this February had also never walked a runway. Immediately after being signed to Priscillas in Sydney, she made her New York debut for Victoria Beckham and in London walked for Christopher Kane.

Australia’s Next Top Model has proven to be the most successful in the franchise. Case in point: Alice Burdeau, Montana Cox, and now 2012 winner Grace Simmons. She’s also a pretty big deal in antipodean equestrian circles, recently being crowned Champion Rider in the 15-17 years category at the Show Horse Council 2012 Hack of the Year.

Repping the Northern Territory is 15-year-old Elina Moscheni, who also lends some diversity to a mostly white lineup of models. Elina is half Italian and half indigenous Australian, and recently made her runway debut at Darwin Fashion Week.

Western Australia is prime hunting ground for model scouts, and one of the most promising new discoveries is 17-year-old slashie Courtney Eaton. Courtney has also scored a role in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road alongside Abbey Lee Kershaw.
