Marco Zanini To Be Named Creative Director At Schiaparelli?

While nothing has yet been confirmed, we have heard on good authority that the Rochas head design honcho Marco Zanini will soon be taking up a new position as the designer for the recently re-launched House of Schiaparelli.

Marco Zanini To Be Named Creative Director At Schiaparelli?

While you may not have heard of Mr Zanini, he has been quietly building a reputation as one of this generation’s most creative talents. Born in Milan in 1971, Zanini graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Milan in 1995. Moving on from his role as an assistant at Dolce & Gabbana to become Donatella Versace’s right arm, he then was tapped to head up Halston. After his brief stint at the iconic 70s brand he moved to Paris to find a new home at Rochas.

Stepping into big shoes – the much loved Olivier Theyskens had been a big success with the press during his tenure at Rochas - Zanini has slowly but surely created a distinctive aesthetic which drew inspiration from a host of disparate references including  John Waters and Tim Burton films. He’s much beloved by the blog set – Giovanna Battaglia impressively wore a huge frock coat from Marco’s A/W 2013 collection during the last Paris collections.

Of course, the Schiaparelli gig has been much discussed around the fashion campfire – with a host of names bandied around including John Galliano. Whether the rumours prove true or not, it’s safe to say that Zanini would be well equipped to take on the legendary Elsa Schiaparelli’s surreal leaning House and bring it into the new century.
