While London-born model Betty Adewole might be flattered with being hailed as 'the next Naomi Campbell', the 21-year-old is keen to prove she's more than capable of carving out her own path to superstardom.
And quite rightly so. This month alone has harked Betty's debut editorial in British Vogue along with signing on to be the face of Tom Ford's cosmetic line.
Speaking to The Sunday Times , Betty said of her comparison: "She's an amazing model but I'm very different. I'm Betty Adewole." Which makes a refreshing change to the hoards of wannabe model's who'd happily settle for a lot less.

But what the modelling pair do share in common, is that they grew up under somewhat challenging circumstances. Speaking to Oprah Winfrey back in 2010, Campbell put her fiery temper down to her childhood abandonment - referring to her mother's choice to leave the model in another person's care while she pursued her dream of being a dancer. While Betty and her family faced their own hardship when they were evicted from their east London flat when she was 11, and spent the next two years living in a hostel.
"It wasn't as damp as our old flat. The living conditions there we better." Said Betty of the situation. "There were other families living there so we always had company, but it was not home. You didn't have much privacy. It was very unsettling."
Betty's hard knock life came to an end when she was spotted by fashion scout in London's Tottenham Court Road at 15; the same age as Campbell when she was singled out from the crowd in London's Covent Garden.

However, perhaps the most famous rags to riches fashion tale of them all is that of Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, who had little more than dreams while growing up in the industrial city of Nizhny Novgorod (formerly known as Gorky), where she spent her early life selling fruit on the street to provide support for her single mother, and autistic younger half-sister, Oksana, who also has cerebral palsy.
