It's been tricky times for Mulberry but good news comes to its loyal fans in the shape of the new, lower-priced 'Tessie' range starting at £495. Treading familiar ground this week, the leatherware brand is launching a brand new collection of uber-classic designs, pitched at prices that are far more redolent of their early days.

The sure-fire hit of the Alexa satchel of 2010, sent prices of this tan leather bag soaring from the its launch price of £695 to £1,100 but this about turn will please fans, with more accessible arm candy on offer from the Somerset-based brand.

Embracing the firm trend for the cross-body bag, the new ‘Tessie’ satchel arrives as an update on Mulberry’s popular ‘Effie’ satchel. Whilst the mini version weighs in at £495 (here in black and red), the medium bag (in oxblood) will set you back £595. There is still a high-end offering from the Tessie though, this croc-effect satchel in Midnight (bottom right) is a good £795 and that extra bit of luxury will ensure that all kinds of shoppers (and celebraities alike) are drawn to this new line.

Mulberry's new range is a thoughtful one for sure, whilst priced more reasonably than we expect from the luxury retailer, the bags are totally timeless, not to mention uber-practical. We have a feeling these hot potatoes will be flying out of stores in no time, now you just need to choose your colour...
