Like plaid shirts and floral jeans, overalls are the latest 90s fashion staple to make a comeback. Celebs like Selena Gomez, January Jones and Emma Watson are the latest celebs to rock the trend in utterly effortless and downright adorable ways.
"I think it is that old adage that everything comes back again and the fact that boho-chic has become a style," celebrity stylist Eric Himel tells Us Weekly of the popularity of overalls.
To pull off the tricky trend without looking like a farmer (or a New Kid on the Block!), the secret is in the fit. "Try them one size smaller than you usually are. They need to have a sex appeal," Himel explains.
Just like wear-with-everything jeans, overalls can adapt to almost any dress code. "A blouse will make the look dressier, but wear it in a casual way with sleeves rolled up," Himel, who has worked with Jenny McCarthy and Kristin Cavallari, tells Us. "Twenty-somethings can get away with a cropped top. Otherwise a fitted V-neck T-shirt or a tank top works universally. But whichever shirt you choose, make sure you show some arm."
As with shirts, footwear can either dress up or dress down the look. "Go either sexy with a classic pump or sandal in a bright color," Himel says. "Or go sporty or boho with a gladiator sandal."
