NYFW Newcomer Katie Holmes Adds Cosmetics Model to Her Growing Fashion Resume

Some stars go into hiding after a divorce, but Katie Holmes seems to be busier than ever after her split from Tom Cruise. She's been photographed a lot bonding with daughter Suri in New York and it's just been revealed that the multitasking mom is the new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics. This isn't Katie's first modeling gig since she's already appeared in advertisements for Miu Miu, Ann Taylor, J. Crew, and John Frieda. The versatile actress also has a clothing line called Holmes & Yang, which plays right into her classic sense of style.

Katie started the label with stylist Jeanne Yang and the dynamic duo just put on the brand's inaugural presentation at fashion week. The former Dawson's Creek star got into the fashionable spirit even before her line's highly anticipated debut. She presented an award at the 2012 Style Awards in a black and metallic Carolina Herrera ensemble with beaded accent.

Never shy about promoting her own line, Katie attended the 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards in New York City in May of last year outfitted in this fuchsia Homes & Yang silk crepe de chine blouse and matching pleated skirt. Understated black accessories wrapped up her look. She attended the 2011 Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Beverly Hills the following month in this strapless black and white Max Mara dress. Isabel Marant pumps and a Jennifer Meyer necklace finished off her look.

It was a Contrarian Barbara Bibb dress for Katie at the Don't Be Afraid of the Dark premiere during the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival later that month. A nude pair of Lanvin T-strap heels rounded out the look. When it came time for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles last September, Katie opted for a sleek electric blue Calvin Klein Collection dress accented by a thin metallic belt. Pierre Hardy shoes completed her red carpet look.

She once again relied on her own line for the Los Angeles premiere of Jack and Jill in November. Katie's dress featured a purple silk chiffon sleeveless V-neck top along with a black pleated skirt and she capped off the look with Lanvin ankle strap pumps. The following month, Katie hit the red carpet at the New York premiere of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. Her navy polka dot Holmes & Yang long sleeve dress was styled with black tights and Lanvin satin pumps.

Elie Saab's Fall 2011 Couture sapphire blue strapless chiffon embellished gown with velvet waistband helped Katie make quite an impression at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February. She accessorized with an ivory Lanvin minaudière. Katie ran errands in New York City earlier this summer decked out in a colorful casual ensemble. She wore a green printed cami from the Gap with her line's orchid pleated skirt.

While Holmes & Yang’s first fashion week collection garnered mixed reviews with its assortment of complementary go-to pieces, there’s no denying that Katie’s sophisticated style deserves some praise.
