All change at My-Wardobe.com . The high-end fashion e-tailer founded in 2006 is to halt its menswear offering next year, which first hit its virtual rails back in 2009.
The spring/summer 2013 collections will be the last men's ranges stocked by the retailer, who wish to focus the efforts of their global expansion on their womenswear offering.
A statement explained: "In the next stage of our growth plans we intend to concentrate on this element exclusively whilst bringing more brands to our global audience."
This a familiar story in the retail world of late: Jack Wills is folding its Aubin & Wills line by the end of the year to focus on international growth, as is Ralph Lauren's 'Rugby' diffusion brand.
The company also today announced the appointment of UK Harper's Bazaar's Carmen Borgonovo as fashion director. Borgonovo, who has also worked for W and US Vogue , will replace buying & merchandising director Luisa De Paula in overseeing the e-tailer's buying strategy and product development.
She follows in the footsteps of her former boss at Harper's Bazaar , ex-editor Lucy Yeomans, who left for My-Wardobe.com competitor Net-A-Porter.com earlier this year, and a slew of fashion editors abandoning publishing for retail. Grazia style director Paula Reed left for Harvey Nichols in September, while Vogue 's ex-fashion features director Harriet Quick left to start up luxury shopping destination Luxup and fashion director headed to Topshop as creative director.
