We were still trying to come to terms with the concept of Essex Fashion Week, when news broke that The Only Way Is Essex's number one mooby man-child, James 'Arg' Argent, had made further in-roads in the fashion world.
When we spotted him front row at the House of Holland show at London Fashion Week, we assumed it was the quiff-haired designer's latest attempt at sidesplitting irony. Then it transpired that Arg was in fact dating his catwalk model escort, Shannon Brennan.
Now magazine reported that the 17-year-old beauty fell for the Essex boy's charms when they met at last month's Pretty Little Thing launch at the Sanctum Soho Hotel, and have since been enjoying a string of dates.
"She's a naturally pretty, down-to-earth, fun girl. And she's well spoken. She ticks every box," the 25-year-old Frank Sinatra impersonator said of his new 'love'.
However, a spokesperson from blonde-haired, blue-eyed Shannon's agency, Select models (also the home of Agyness Deyn and Pixie Geldof) has now refuted Arg's claims in no uncertain terms with the following stinging statement to the Daily Mail: "This story is completely untrue and upsetting to our client."
Bang! And the dream was gone.
We must admit, Shannon - whose portfoilio boasts a pop-up appearance in a One Direction video, a Louise Gray for Brora campaign, and various magazine fashion shoots - did seem quite the departure from Arg's last girlfriend, curvy Gemma Collins. But we were looking forward to spotting the portly yo-yo dieter slimmed down to Hedi Slimane proportions and tucking into lettuce leaf (hold the dressing!) in all manor of fabulously overpriced Mayfair eateries near us.
Back to the cheese drawing board, Arg.
