Emma Watson Takes A 'Mortar Board Selfie' As She Graduates From Brown University

Big congrats to Emma Watson who has graduated today from Brown University. Ten points to Gryffindor! Sorry Ems, we had to get in at least one Harry Potter pun. Today she has put on her mortar board and gown to accept her bachelor's degree in English literature from the Ivy League university.

Emma said in an interview with The Sunday Times she was slightly concerned about how her class would treat her. 'On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned to look at me. I had to say to myself, "It's okay, you can do this. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage."'

Emma said despite her concerns, she was able to have a relatively normal college life (apart from the filming interuptions and red carpet commitments). 'I've never even been asked for an autograph on campus,' she told US Weekly. 'I threw a party for nearly 100 students and not a single person put a photo on Facebook.'

When Emma appeared on Ellen earlier this year she revealed: "People kind of took pity on me [at Brown]. They were like 'she's English, she doesn't really know where she's going. Brown kids were actually weirdly protective of me - like in situations around Providence they kind of saw it as their role to help me have that experience somehow. They kind of just got it."

Emma took two semesters off university for filming commitments and worked on major films like The Bling Ring throughout her breaks. Emma told Ellen her parents were getting impatient waiting for her graduation as she said: 'In England we graduate after three years and my Dad is like when is it happening? You've been doing this now for ages!'
