At Midnight, James Franco Called Us to Talk About Porn

James Franco should be sleepy. It's after midnight, and he's just wrapped a long shoot on the indie Michael, where he stars as an ex-gay activist struggling with his sexuality. Most actors would spend their twilight hours heading to bed or studying the next day's script pages, but the idea of rest is almost anathema to a compulsive multitasker like Franco, who's instead taken that free time to call up Vulture to discuss pornography — specifically, the sadomasochistic kind.

Tara Reid Shows Off Skinny Body in Jaw-Dropping Plunging Neckline Crop Top at Sharknado 2 Premiere

Tara Reid

Now, that's a crop top!

Tara Reid showed off her insanely skinny body at the Sharknado 2 premiere in L.A. on Thursday, Aug. 21. "It's a wild movie," Reid told Us Weekly on the red carpet. "There are sharks in a tornado -- what a concept."

Wearing a Michael Costello ensemble, Reid, 38, flaunted her cleavage in the plunging neckline crop top and midi skirt featuring a side slit.

To maintain her svelte figure, Reid stays active. "I run everyday, and I go swimming a lot," she told Us.

She also blasted haters who critiqued the star for being too skinny after her bikini pic on Instagram on Aug. 14 caused a stir. "I have a small body," she told Us. "It's in my DNA. I can't change it."

Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress Designer Sarah Burton Gushes on Iconic Gown

Kate Middleton and Sarah Burton

Better late than never! More than three years after Kate Middleton married Prince William in a beautiful Alexander McQueen wedding dress, the designer behind the gown, Sarah Burton, is finally speaking about the experience.

"I know we live in a culture obsessed with fame, but I happen to believe privacy is a virtue, and the relationship I have with my clients is private," Burton, 40, explained to the New York Times' T Magazine. "Some people like to think I've been too shy or that I'm afraid to speak up about the happy experience I had creating the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress, but I can tell you that is nonsense. I have never been a shrinking violet or a person who is ruled by fear."

Burton went on to discuss said "happy experience," giving details on all of the work that went into creating Middleton's now-iconic gown. On that momentous day in April 2011, Middleton, now 32, walked down the aisle in the long-sleeved V-neck confection with a stunning train and traditional lace veil.

"I loved making the dress, I loved adapting my ideas to suit the person and the occasion, and we put our hearts into it," she said. "I respect the intimate nature of that lovely project and I respect the friendships that were forged during it… an instinctive, intelligent, imaginative young woman's wish for a beautiful wedding dress — or any kind of dress — is the most natural thing in the world. I was honored to pick up the challenge and always will be."

While the gorgeous gown quickly sparked a slew of copycats and worship from fans and fashion critics alike, Burton told T she wasn't anticipating the frenzy.

"I had no idea it would be as big as it was," she explained. "Only the night before, seeing all the photographers outside the abbey, did I think, 'Oh, my God. This is massive.'"

Is it too early to buy a winter coat in August?

The logical answer to the question posed in this headline is no, however there's no escaping the reality that we are slipping out of summer, a fact made all the more brutal by a drop in temperatures this week.

To boot, the topsy-turvy retail industry loves nothing more than a fast-tracked switch to a new season, with shops already full of cashmere rollnecks while many of us are still trying to show off our summer tans.

Online retailer ASOS is going full-throttle into winter by listing 50 new coat styles between now and September. "We know our customer craves newness and wants all of the key trend items as soon as they possibly can" explains Ian Amer, ASOS outerwear assistant buyer.

SHOP: Our edit of the best winter coats in August

Here at Telegraph Fashion we've long been advocates of telling you to buy your bikini in March and now, we're openly weighing up the benefits of snapping up that winter coat right now - i.e before the January freeze sets in and all you can get your hands on is a sale rail reject you wouldn't normally be seen dead in.

So peruse our edit of what's actually shopable now, take in our experts' tips and then make your call on whether to wait it out or snap something up this instant. Just don't say we didn't warn you…

THE PROS

You're less likely to make a panic buy

"I am a big advocator of shopping for what I like, not for what I need" offers Stella magazine's fashion director Charlie Harrington. "And then when the moment arises, abracadabra - there it is in your wardrobe." For the record, she has already committed to a heavy winter number by Roksanda.

You can be sure not to miss out

"I have already ordered three (yes three!) Sacai winter coats" reveals Telegraph Luxury's women's style expert Caroline Issa. "I saw them on the runway in March in Paris and pre-ordered them as I figured best to get my dream coat buys out of the way so that way I'm not scrambling hoping to find them come the new season and not knowing where to go, where to find them, wondering whether they will be in stock in my size etc. It's my new way of shopping."

You'll have a great selection to choose from

If you shop on the highstreet then listen carefully to the words of Amer: "August is the time when there is the best selection of outerwear available so it really does pay dividends to plan ahead a little."

SHOP: The autumn trends to buy now

THE CONS

You might be bored of it come November

We all know that if you buy something and don't start wearing it almost immediately, you can probably live without it. "Being a bit of an impulse shopper, I find planning ahead removes all the fun" says Telegraph luxury and digital fashion editor Belinda White. "Right now I'm thinking I need to find a perfect parka this winter, but when it's actually cold enough to wear one who knows what I'll be eyeing up?! Too risky."

You might get too hung up on needing The Coat Of The Season

"While it's amazing to have the coat style of the season is there any point in spending a fortune on it if it's so identifiable with one season?" ponders a wise Kate Finnigan, Stella magazine's style editor. Her recommendations are to "have more than one and not put everything into one coat. "I think get a couple of high street numbers (I'd recommend COS) and consider a classic."

You might end up with something everyone else is wearing

Sophie Warburton, The Telegraph's style co-ordinator, deploys this mantra: "I never buy early as you often end up with 'that Zara coat' that everyone else has."

...But wait a minute… what's wrong with last winter's coat?

Telegraph Magazine's ethically-minded style director Tamsin Blanchard has a few thoughts on our seasonal, rampant consumerism. "If you buy a good quality one (mine was from Folk last year - highly recommended, really beautiful Italian fabrics and timeless shapes) then you should be fine to wear it again this winter as long as you remembered to put it into the dry cleaners." What if it's looking a bit tired? "Just buy a new scarf or lipstick if you feel the need for an update."

THREE TIPS FOR INVESTING WISELY

- It sounds obvious but check out what you already own. That navy coat might be lovely, but if you already own three surely it's not that great an investment.

- It's worth checking out the dregs of the summer sales - especially online. We spied a Marni coat down in lambskin from £1,590 to £954 on the brand's website.

- Make sure it's the best quality fabric you can afford; there's nothing worse than a coat that goes bobbly after a few wears.

Celebrities Ice Bucket Challenge Videos: What to Wear From Nothing to Everything

Rita Ora, Mario Lopez take the ice bucket challenge

Unless you've stuck your head in a literal ice bucket over the last week, you've seen just about every celebrity (except Kim Kardashian…for now) take on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to benefit the ALS Association.

While some couples have completed the chilly challenge together (See: Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's adorable video, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum's version), our hats go off to the solo celebs who brave the freezing water, sometimes in little clothing.

If you find yourself challenged with the donate or dunk option, take a cue from these celebrities on what to wear — or not to wear, in some cases.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Why soak any of her designer clothes when she can just wear a towel?

Gwyneth Paltrow

Perhaps she's prepping for a polar bear plunge since she wore just a Heidi Klein bikini.

Mark Wahlberg

He smartly removed his Jordan sneakers so as not to have to slosh around after he completed the ALS challenge.

Anna Wintour

Ooh, the ice can be cold! Naturally the Vogue editor, with her trademark bob, wore oversized sunglasses and a floral tank dress for the challenge.

Emma Stone

Anticipating the frosty aftermath, The Amazing Spider-Man actress wore a cozy sweatshirt.

Herms Bandit Bandanas: For the Stylish Cowgirl

Hermès silk scarves are legendary: At this point, they're an uncontested classic, both in fashion and in pop culture. So imagine our surprise upon learning that the house would be releasing, for the first time, little bandana squares (55 cm to be exact) in 23 colorful options. Each monocromatic scarf mixes equestrian Western elements with Hermès playfulness. Little stars, spurs, and lassos abound in graphic tableaus; there's even some obligatory French spelled out in rope (les canyons étoiles — the starry canyons!). And at $195, it's a smart price for something so versatile — wear it bandit style, tied to a handbag strap, or tucked in a jean pocket. As with all scarves, the possibilities are endless. Click on to see our favorites.

It's Happened: Anna Wintour Did The Ice Bucket Challenge (In Marni)

[Instagram]

It's the video series that's gone viral on social media and this weekend, the self-soakers stepped it up a notch with the likes of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham getting in on the action. We are of course talking about the ice-bucket challenge which sees high-profile stars and mere mortals alike tipping buckets of freezing cold water over their heads.

But it's not just for LOLs – oh no. The videos are to raise awareness of motor neurone disease (also known as AIS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease), which affects around 5,000 people in the UK. People are challenged to take part, nominate three others then film themselves getting drenched. It's a hoot! And all for a good cause.

We can't get enough of the video that sees Justin Bieber getting soaked (guffaw) and check out Jennifer Lopez showcasing her excellent abs before getting splattered by her adorable kids. Then, just when we thought we couldn't love T-Swizzle any more, the singer got into the spirit with actress pal Jamie King.

Business leaders like Bill Gates have also got stuck in (he was nominated by Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg) while Oprah Winfrey treated us to a seriously high-pitched squeal as she gave it a go. But it's Lady Gaga who has revealed the creepiest rendition of all, clad in S&M gear topped off with a black pout *shudders*

But if you watch one ice bucket challenge make it Anna Wintour's, who accepted the challenge by her daughter Bee.

Check out our favourite videos (so far) below. Will you be getting involved?

Miranda Kerr denies being pregnant with James Packers child

Miranda Kerr's love life appears to have more twists and turns than a rollercoaster as the salacious rumours around her daliances continue to fill gossip columns.

The latest development is 31-year-old Kerr shooting down claims that she is pregnant with Australian billionaire James Packer's child. The friends are rumoured to have become a couple shortly after Kerr split from British actor Orlando Bloom last year, however the supermodel has long insisted that she is single.

SEE: The many faces of Miranda Kerr

American magazine Star recently ran a story claiming that the mother-of-one had complained of nausea and sickness on recent business trip to Munich in Germany. The title added how the brunette had been 'talking babies' and quoted a source as saying: 'She never wanted a big gap between her children. She's eager to get pregnant again.'

READ: Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom's very confusing love pentagon

The model's publicist, when approached by the Daily Telegraph in Australia about the pregnancy rumours, said: 'There is no truth to it.'

Kerr already has a three-year-old son named Flynn from her relationship with Bloom. The claims come days after Kerr told The Sunday Times that she wasn't the reason behind the photographed brawl between Packer and his lifelong friend and best man, David Gyngell, earlier this year. Add to that the fact that Bloom has been photographed on holiday with Packer's ex-wife Erica Baxter and hit out at a cocky Justin Bieber in Ibiza following rumours that Kerr became close with him in 2012 and matters get very confusing. Oh, and there's also Miranda's denial that she was dating Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.

New Album, New Style! A Homage To Taylor Swift's Ever-Evolving Wardrobe

Taylor Swift Style 1989 Album

Taylor Swift in yet another crop top and matching skirt set [Getty]

It truly is Taylor Swift's week. The songstress revealed a new album, album cover, song AND music video during a Yahoo live stream and within minutes, the news was trending worldwide. Taylor explained that the album, 1989, is inspired by '80s pop - Bowie, eat yer heart out. So does this mean we'll see her dressing more poptastic than ever?

Because we've long noticed that Taylor changes her style according to each album. Think of it as part of a marketing strategy, if you will. While Kate Middleton never puts a sartorial step wrong in her bid to appeal to the masses, so does T-Swiz. Indeed, during the grand announcement, the star addressed her oft-discussed wardrobe.

'As a songwriter and just as a person, I try to be really open to inspiration, whether I am walking down the street in New York and see someone wearing something cool, I am effected by those things,' she said. 'In the same way as you have to be vulnerable to new emotions and painful emotions and great emotions and let those things into your songwriting... I kind of let the same thing happen with fashion, and what you'll find is you'll experiment with things you weren't comfortable with before.' Bascially, she uses her outfits to reflect her new mood and that's something we can all relate to.

Whether it's heartbreak songs reflected by retro tea dresses or a new country track complemented by cowboy boots, Swifty sticks to a tried and tested recipe. It's a wonderful marketing strategy, no? May it never end. Like, ever. Take a look at the evidence for yourselves...

Taylor Swift - 2006

Taylor Swift Style 1989 Album

The style evolution began back in October 2006 when Taylor released her eponymous debut album shortly after signing her first record deal. Aged 15, she was the ultimate country star on the album cover complete with an angelic face and halo of Goldilocks curls. As she tackled the red carpets of the world, we saw her amping up her adorableness in babydoll dresses that were cute without going OTT. And nothing screams country darling better than a shimmering pair of cowboy boots.

Fearless - 2008

Taylor Swift Style 1989 Album

When Fearless came into our lives, Tay's mane of ringlets took centre stage for the cover. She started dating Joe Jonas and together, they were the ultimate squeaky clean teen couple. Her red carpet style was the perfect complement to her homecoming queen vibe: see the girlie floor-length dresses worthy of a school prom in Nashville.

Speak Now - 2010

By the time Taylor released her third album, Speak Now, she wasn't just embracing a sequin - she was positively drenching herself in them. Whether performing on stage or posing on a red carpet, the star couldn't get enough shiny, spangle, short dresses - after all, how better to complement the princessy twinkles on her album cover? You've got to admire that sartorial consistency. The sex kitten edge was also starting to emerge - by the end of the year, Taylor was dabbling in the world of poker-straight hair avec blonde fringe.

Red - 2012

Taylor Swift Style 1989 Album

Taylor's style matured with the release of her third album (essentially a homage to her Jake Gyllenhaal heartbreak, sob) and she thankfully escaped her sparkling style rut. Gone was the glitz and in its place was a super-preened retro style and a new boyf in the shape of Conor Kennedy. This time, she took the name of the album as wardrobe inspiration, naturally, trotting out an array of crimson-coloured tea-length frocks. The parade was accessorised by a slick of red lippy, side-swept locks and a collection of nude heels that K-Middy would be proud of.

Taylor Swift Style 1989 Album

Cut to today and 24-year-old Taylor has treated us to brand new cover art inspired by the '80s. The minimalist polaroid snap is quite a departure from the usual glossy fare and has already garnered comparisons to David Bowie. Of course, this calls for another style overhaul and the transformation is already underway. Whether Tay's coming out of the gym or hitting an awards show, we've seen a carefully constructed wardrobe in recent weeks. Her new ladylike uniform consists of crop tops and matching flared skirt sets, preferably accompanied by a supermodel BFF. Well, if you've got abs and legs a-go-go, why ever not? Welcome to the grown-up Swifty era!

Kelly Rutherford Talks About Her Miserable Custody Battle

At last weekend's inaugural Children's Justice Campaign benefit in the Hamptons, actress Kelly Rutherford — best known for her role as Lily van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl – spoke with the Cut about the excruciating custody battle she's currently navigating. Her two children — Hermes, 7, and Helena, 5 — have been ordered by the courts to live primarily in France with their father, German businessman Daniel Giersch.

Anna Wintour takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

UPDATE: It's happened - Anna Wintour has taken the Ice Bucket Challenge. The American Vogue editor-in-chief called upon seven young members of her family to help her fulfil the task, and even took two buckets of water over her famous bob. Watch the video here.

She then nominated tennis player Roger Federer and actor Dominic West.

**********************

Unless you have successfully avoided all forms of social media, or indeed online media (if so, well done you), for the past few days, you won't have failed to notice that many a celebrity has been dousing themselves in a bucket full of ice cold water. Why? In the US it's to raise money for the ALS Association - a donation is expected alongside the unpleasant task - and in the UK to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Macmillan Cancer Support. After an icy soaking the participant then nominates two or three further people to undertake the challenge.

IN PICTURES: The 21 highest-paid models of 2014

So, with billionaire business moguls, actors and singers already ticked off the list it was only a matter of time before the fashion fraternity got in on the action.

So, who's gone so far? The ever game Cara Delevingne was one of the first to give it a go, then came Suki Waterhouse, Kate Upton (no stranger to a wet T-shirt), Gisele Bundchen and Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo, who then nominated fellow Angel Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Gigi Hadid, Andreka Pejic and Karolina Kurkova. Thankfully, all appear to be in sunnier climes than the UK, taking the edge of the chill factor. We can also (maybe) look forward to Victoria Beckham having a go - she was nominated by friend Eva Longoria - and Anna Wintour - nominated by Gisele - though we're not entirely convinced they won't just donate a wedge in lieu of the challenge.

67-year-old designer Diane von Furstenberg also got in on the action, taking part aboard a luxury yacht. Someone please just nominate Karl Lagerfeld. PLEASE.

Finally, a Song About Idiot Exes That Gets How We Talk About Idiot Exes

Adorable ukulele/punk-enthusiasts the Prettiots just released a song about the supercool boys you liked in your youth.

It's called "Boys (I Dated in High School)," and you will want to transcribe the whole thing and tape it to your wall, out of overwhelming solidarity/nostalgia/sympathy/appreciation of the liberating moment when your crush-goggles fall away and you realize that your beautiful-cool-alt boy is not all that, at all.

EXCLUSIVE: Liberty Ross on Her Collaboration With Genetic Denim

Liberty Ross, one of the most iconic models of the 1990s is leaving the scandal of recent years behind her and focusing on a new venture: fashion design. While there’s no hint of a fully-fledged ready to wear line any time soon, she’s dipped her toe into the water with a collaboration with L.A based denim brand Genetic.

Liberty’s 6-piece collection will land exclusively on Net a Porter this Friday. Including graphic motifs and strict tailoring, the line is about more than just a pretty pair of jeans.

Liberty Ross x Genetic

Catching up with Liberty earlier in the month, we asked her about the inspiration behind the collection. ‘My favourite designers are Alaia and [Alexander] McQueen, Raf [Simmons]– designers that give you a really tight, sharp edge,’ Liberty explained. ‘My mini collection is based it on all of those sharp lines – there’s a jacket you just put on and you’re sharp and ready to go.’

Self-confessed denim girl Liberty explained that she has long been a fan of Genetic’s aesthetic: ‘I was a big fan of the brand before I met the team and then when we did meet they said ‘Oh my god Id love for you to work with us.’ So it was a very organic thing. It’s small, but it’s cool and very well edited – a really nice first foray into fashion design.’

Genetic Founder and Creative Director, Ali Fatourechi with Liberty Ross

The best part of the collaboration, Liberty said, was the chance to learn more about the industry. ‘I’m such a denim girl, its always been my go-to thing. I really wanted to explore that - denim’s so exciting now because there are so many different things you can do with a pair of jeans.’ The experience has also left her even more in awe of her designer friends than before, ‘I’ve learnt a lot about structuring things,’ she said, ‘and have become even more respectful of all these designers – I don’t know how they do so many collections back to back. It’s SUCH a lot of work!’

How to Correctly Apply Eye Cream

Before I knew any better, my preferred method for applying eye cream wasn't all that different from my technique for applying schmear to a bagel. Then one day, my mom caught me dipping into one of her fancy jars and shrieked, snatching it out of my hand. "So this is why my eye cream keeps disappearing," she scolded. The Mystery of the Endlessly Disappearing Clé de Peau Beauté eye cream became a closed case. Along with the time she taught me that you should be wary of psychics offering free readings, this turned out to be one of the most valuable lessons my mother ever imparted to me. When I became a beauty editor, I found that my friends were just as flummoxed by eye-cream application as I once was. So, we made a set of GIFs that break down the correct process for applying eye cream, step by step.

With WWD Free of Cond, the Gloves Can Come Off

Yesterday, when the news that Fairchild Publications — the Condé Nast–owned group comprising Women's Wear Daily, Footwear News, WWD Beauty Biz, and — was being sold to Penske Media Corporation, it seems appropriate that most people in the industry found out via a WWD news alert. As regular readers know, WWD is the industry source where Armani's quarterly earnings run cheek by jowl alongside an array of scoops about fashion-week front-row denizens. It's known as the "fashion bible" for a reason. (Full disclosure: I worked there from 2006 to 2010.) The deal also gives Penske ownership over Fairchild's rich archive, which is already a resource for design houses and researchers, and could be a gold mine for all manner of projects — retrospective books, documentaries, you name it.

Conchita Wurst's Fashion Trajectory Continues With Karl Lagerfeld Shoot In CR Fashion Book

Karl Lagerfeld poses with and photographs Conchita Wurst for the latest issue of CR Fashion Book

Karl Lagerfeld is like the godfather of pop culture: the inimitable designer’s seal of approval basically ordains whether someone or something can be deemed truly of-the-moment. The lucky subject of A/W'14? Bearded drag suprema and Eurovision winner, Conchita Wurst. Following a very high fashion turn on the Jean Paul Gaultier couture runway last month, a leotard and suspender-clad Wurst has taken a prime photoshoot spot within the latest issue of CR Fashion Book, Carine Roitfeld’s style tome, alongside a classically monochromatic Herr Lagerfeld.

Conchita in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci

Not to be outdone by the publication’s other (mini) beacon of our times – a debut from North West in Chanel – Conchita’s set waves, a well-honed smize and slim pins conjures up the role of a Hollywood vixen… one who gets photographed by polymath Karl, interviewed by androgynous model Casey Legler, and also cosies up to pregnant model Ashleigh Good.

The Austrian-born 25-year-old has been styled in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci’s new season collection: concocting a mix of loose, masculine tailoring, lingeries and fur that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Marlene Dietrich portrait.

‘I created Conchita as the goal of a very long… well, actually, it's the story of my life’ Conchita, real name Tom Neuwirth, tells CR. ‘I grew up in a small Austrian village, a quite conservative one, and I was the weird little boy always dressing as a girl.’
